UofM in! Out! In! Out, Florida in!

Geniuses. Who thought of this stupid BCS thing anyway. What crap.

UCLA bests USC, Michigan’s #2. #4 Florida beats a wussy team like the Razorbacks and they move up in the polls?? Why? All of them will get bested by Ohio, except for possibly Michigan. Sure, people say Michigan had their shot, but it doesn’t matter, they are the only ones out there with a chance of railing OSU.

Go to a damn playoff like they have in the NCAA basketball, and don’t tell me it’s about the money… Hell, the Big Dance generartes so much income for schools and TV alike that it makes me ill.

Time for an update…

IMG_0365So, here we are on the first day of December. You step outside, and you know it too. Yesterday? 71 degrees. This morning at 7AM? 31 degrees, with a windchill of 11! Ugh. It only takes a day or two of this to remember Michigan. According to Myrna, their getting hammered up there too.

Here’s a new pic that we took last weekend when we to Cameron Brown park. It was a beautiful day. There’s a whole slew of new pics up over at our Flickr page. By all means head over there. Brooke’s birthday was a smashing success, so smashing that I forgot to take pictures. Maybe I was too smashed. I dunno. Either way, thanks to everyone for coming, including the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department (the panic button on the alarm got pressed somehow, and we couldn’t get it to turn off in time. Sadly it took them about 30 minutes to show (at which point the alarm had been off for 18 minutes). I’m glad it wasn’t a real problem. [ Note to self, don’t count on the alarm to save you.]

Christmas is right around the corner, we’ll be in Michigan before you know it.

We finally have the college fund set up for the kids. It should be up and ready to go by Friday of this week. If you want to contribute to their college education go to www.treasury.state.tn.us/best/index.htm or mail to Tennessee’s BEST Prepaid Plan, P.O. Box 198786, Nashville, TN 37219-8786
One more update on our social calender. Hayley is going to be in Drama club on Wednesdays. I think that will be a hard activity for her since she has no drama in her at all. Busy, Busy, Busy,Gotta go. Riley is wanting to go to school. Love you all, Brooke

The Next Phase in Motherhood

I am now the new leader for the Germantown branch of the Daisy Scouts (the youngest version of Girl Scouts). My friend Wendy and I are going to both be the leaders of our own troop. Andy says I have taken this volunteering thing a little too far. I am so excited to be able to do this though. The outfits for them are adorable.

Gay Marriage ban in Tennessee?

The historical institution and legal contract solemnizing the relationship of one man and one woman shall be the only legally recognized marital contract in this state. Any policy or law or judicial interpretation, purporting to define marriage as anything other than the historical institution and legal contract between one man and one woman, is contrary to the public policy of this state and shall be void and unenforceable in Tennessee. If another state or foreign jurisdiction issues a license for persons to marry and if such marriage is prohibited in this state by the provisions of this section, then the marriage shall be void and unenforceable in this state.

This is the verbage of Amendment 1 on the ballot here in Tennessee this November. How inane. You can get more info on it here: http://votenoon1tn.com/
Make sure you vote no on this one if you live here.

New school year lots of activities

This week marked some very big milestones for Hayley: She started kindergarden, survived her adventure of getting on the wrong bus, and lost her first tooth.

We met with her teacher yesterday and volunteered for a ton of new projects for her classroom. Andy and I are going to help with many things – helping with computers, being in the clinic to put band-aids on booboos, joined the PTA… I am going to be a room mom as well. Wow! Tonight there is a roller-skating party that we all are going to to raise money for the school. On monday Hayley will start the chess club, and go to her first daisy scout meeting. Tuesday’s will be jazz and tap. Riley will be going to ballet and swimming this fall.

I am running four to five times a week. Andy is busy doing things for the school the house and of course working hard at Fed Ex. We will have many fun times with the girls and all of the busy activities the school has in store. I am positive that this is the reason I became a mother. I can’t tell you how much joy these girls have brought into my life. I know that they will grow up to be strong, smart and successful. I am just so glad that Andy and I can be a part, and take a little credit for how special they both are.
